Websites for law firms

Win the right clients, within the rules

Law firm websites that bring in the matters you want, screen out the ones you do not, and follow the Law Society of BC's marketing rules on every page. Three fixed prices, published in full.

The real problem

Clients choose a lawyer before they call one.

People in a hard moment read three or four firm websites, often at night, on a phone. They look for a lawyer who handles their kind of matter, explains how fees work, and seems easy to talk to.

A site that lists every practice area in one paragraph sends them to the firm that took the time to explain.

Your marketing also has rules. BC's Code of Professional Conduct says lawyer marketing must not be false, inaccurate, unverifiable, or reasonably capable of misleading. A designer who has never read the Code can write a page that breaks it.

Why law firms are different

The Law Society reads your website too

Chapter 4 of BC's Code of Professional Conduct covers lawyer marketing. We read it before we write a word, and we check every page against it before launch. Here is some of what it covers.

  • True and checkable

Lawyer marketing must not be false, inaccurate, unverifiable, or reasonably capable of misleading. So every claim on the site is one a reader could check.

  • No specialist titles

Unless the Law Society has authorized it, a lawyer must not use the title specialist or anything like it. We describe your practice areas without it.

  • Reviews

The Law Society says every part of a testimonial must be true and verifiable. We build review features that meet that bar, or we leave them out.

  • Results

Marketing must not create an unjustified expectation about the results a lawyer can achieve. So past outcomes appear with context, or not at all.

  • Readers in a hard moment

Marketing must not take advantage of a reader's physical or emotional vulnerability. Injury and family pages inform. They do not pressure.

  • Your sign off

Your practice is on the line, so you approve every page. Anything we cannot settle goes on a list for you to raise with the Law Society.

What the site has to do

Six jobs, from first search to first meeting

Every package below does all six.

  • Explain each practice area

A page for each kind of matter says who you help, what to expect, and how fees work.

  • Introduce the lawyers

Clients choose a person. Every lawyer gets a page with year of call, practice areas, and a way to reach them.

  • Screen before the call

The intake form asks only what your conflict check needs, and tells people not to send case details yet.

  • Show up nearby

People search for a lawyer near them. Office pages and a current Google Business Profile put you on that list.

  • Follow the rules

Every page is checked against the Law Society's marketing rules before launch, with a written record you keep.

  • Count new matters

Inquiries are tracked by practice area and source, so you see which searches bring the work you want.

Three packages

Priced as products, not proposals

Each build is a sum of products on the pricing page, so you can check the math. Each package also starts a Search plan on launch day, because clients look for a lawyer in a search box first.

Before you ask

Questions law firms ask first

Can our website say we specialize in family law?

We avoid the word specialist and anything like it, unless the Law Society has authorized it. The Law Society's own guidance says you can describe preferred practice areas as areas of expertise, as long as the wording does not suggest a special status. We write to that line.

Can we show client reviews?

Yes, if every part of each review is true and verifiable. That is the Law Society's test. We build review features that meet it, and we leave out anything you cannot back up.

Can we list case results?

With care. The Code says marketing must not create an unjustified expectation about results. We show a result only with the context a reader needs, and we leave it out when that context is not possible.

Will the intake form collect confidential details?

No. It asks only what your conflict check needs, such as names and the type of matter. It tells people not to send the details of their case until you confirm you can act.

Do we have to buy Search?

With a law firm package, yes, for the first three months. That is the plan's minimum. After that it runs month to month, and you can cancel by email. The Template and Custom builds on the Websites page come with no Search plan.

Do you guarantee the site follows the Law Society's rules?

No. The Law Society decides that, and your practice is the one on the line. We check every page against the Code, fix what we find, and give you a written record. Anything we cannot settle goes on a list for you to raise with the Law Society. We build websites. We are not lawyers.

Which firms do you build for?

Personal injury, family, real estate, wills and estates, and business law firms across the Okanagan and Greater Vancouver. Okanagan firms get in person sessions at no charge.

Twenty minutes, then a fixed price in writing.

Tell us about the firm, the matters you want more of, and the ones you would rather refer out. The call ends with a written scope and a number. There is no charge for it.
